16.06.2011 Miami Wedding Cinematography: Jeanette and Finley

We met this couple last year in a Starbucks and instantly fell in love with them over a cup of coffee. Jeanette loves photography, wedding blogs, and all things French. She even has her own blog! Take a look here. I secretly (or maybe not so secretly) left our meeting hoping we could be best friends. Finley is the kind of guy you want to get a hug from. A genuine, funny guy and a passionate actor. We got to know them more when we shot their engagement film on South Beach (watch it here). They were so fun to work with. What was clear right away is how much they love each other. They have been together for a long time, and yet they act as if they just started dating. Usually during a shoot we ask couples to kiss. With Jeanette and Finley we more often found ourselves saying, “No kissing on this one!”

Needless to say, we were so excited to finally film their wedding. And we were able to work with Otto Schulze whose photography we already admired. You can see his beautiful photographs of Jeanette and Finley’s wedding here. For their film, we had a clear vision for the look and feel. Jeanette loves super8 and 16mm film. One of her favorite movies is Love Jones and she really likes the hand-held style. Jazz music was probably the soundtrack for the day. Soothing jazz played from her ipod as she got ready and the during the procession at the wedding. Jeanette did a wonderful job of putting handmade and soft details together with cotton and feathers seen in the bouquets and boutonnieres, tables, even on the cake. With all that inspiration in mind, we are so happy to finally present their wedding highlight film.

Congratulations to Jeanette and Finley!

From the moment I saw the video I wanted to write a comment befitting of how I felt. I realized that was going to be a struggle since I was so full of emotion to the point of speechlessness. After watching the snippet at least a dozen times and melding each frame with my memories of the day, I felt grateful. I felt grateful that Finley and I went to that bridal show and stopped by your booth. That, after speaking with you both, we walked away feeling a warmth that one usually doesn’t feel after conversing with strangers. We were so moved by the experience of meeting you that we quietly and confidently agreed to hire you, having met with no other wedding cinematographers. From that decision we gained beautifully crafted videos of a time in our life that we will never experience again but will have forever and two people that we will always consider friends. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done. Any bride and groom would be as lucky as we are to have you capture their day.

    • What a beautiful message. Your words sum up why we are in this business. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to create.
