22.03.2011 Daniella and David: Reflections at Vizcaya

The Vizcaya Museum in Miami is known for its breathtaking grounds and rich history. I cannot picture a more perfect setting for Daniella and David’s wedding. When Daniella first came to us, we knew we had our work cut out for us. As a documentary filmmaker, Daniella had high expectations and big visions. In our meeting we talked about the theme of the wedding. They spent a lot of time choosing the passage, “Kamayim- hapanim lapanim, kein lev-ha’adam la’adam” which translates to “As water reflects a face back to face, so too one’s heart is reflected back to him by another.” Naturally, we had to build this theme into their film. It served as the subtext to our story. And what a story. Their day was so full of emotion and meaning that we could not have scripted it better. We even have an original score! Daniella’s father and brother wrote two enchanting and captivating songs for both Daniella and David to walk down the aisle to. They were beautifully performed by Daniella’s brother.

One of the more special moments had to be the first look. Working together with their endlessly brilliant photographer Cengiz from Adagion Studio, we set up directly underneath where they would later have their ceremony. The structure played perfectly to our advantage with the bride looking over the balcony and her groom waiting anxiously underneath. They chose not to see each other for a week and not to speak to each other as of 4 days before, which heightened the anticipation.

As the evening progressed, there were so many moving and powerful moments that I think it’s best to let the images speak for themselves.
